“Project MK Ultra” isn’t just a tale of science gone rogue—it’s a reminder that when secrecy meets power, reality itself can be rewritten.

In the shadowed halls of Cold War paranoia, Project MKUltra was born: a top-secret CIA operation designed to weaponize the human mind. From 1953 onward, scientists covertly dosed unwitting subjects with LSD, barbiturates, and other psychoactive drugs, paired with hypnosis, sensory deprivation, and electrocution.  Under the direction of chemist Sidney Gottlieb, the goal was to break down free will, implant new thoughts, and develop ultimate mind control techniques. Institutions across the U.S. and Canada — universities, psychiatric hospitals, prisons — became field labs. Yet it wasn’t until 1975, after an avalanche of oversight and public scandal, that the program’s existence was forced into daylight.  But by then, the CIA had already ordered massive file destruction in 1973, burying many secrets forever.
